Embarking on a journey into the unknown can be both exhilarating and daunting. The blend of excitement and trepidation fills the air, creating a palpable sense of anticipation. It was amidst this mix of emotions that I found myself preparing for my very first sailing experience, all while on a yoga sailing retreat.
As I packed my bags, questions swirled in my mind like the waves beneath the boat:
What's it like to actually sleep on a boat for seven days?
Will I succumb to seasickness?
Can I truly hack it?
Motion sickness had been a lifelong companion, accompanying me on every road trip and voyage. The mere thought of spending an entire week on a sailboat triggered a twinge of intimidation. Yet, fueled by a spirit of adventure, I decided to cast aside my apprehensions and embrace the unknown.
Armed with acupressure wristbands and a determination to conquer my fears, I embarked on this voyage of self-discovery. However, as the rhythmic sway of the boat enveloped me, I felt the familiar grip of nausea tightening its hold.
In that moment of uncertainty, our Skipper emerged as a guiding light, offering wisdom born of experience. Encouraged to take the helm, I navigated through the waves, finding solace in the act of steering the boat. With each breath and every gaze fixed on the horizon, I discovered the harmonious dance between sailing and yoga.
It was a revelation – to surrender to the ebb and flow of the ocean, to embrace the inherent unity of body and mind. Like a yogi on the mat, I learned to let my breath guide me back to equilibrium, to find stillness amidst the motion. The pic above is literally in that very moment when I took the helm for the very first time...
As the days unfolded, so too did my journey of inner exploration. That first week on the boat ignited a spark within me, a desire to not only continue hosting yoga sailing retreats but also to embark on a journey of personal mastery – learning to sail.
I've since hosted 3 Sailing Yoga Reterats and am now collaborating with the very Skipper who guided me through those turbulent waters on my first retreat. Super excited to share our second Yoga + Sail + Certify immersion - a unique Sailing Training in Greece, which kicks off April 20th 2024.
We have crafted a unique blend of sailing training and yoga practices, culminating in a week of unparalleled personal growth.
This immersive experience is so much more than just a training or a retreat; it is a voyage into the depths of self-discovery. Participants in the sailing training in Greece not only learn the art of sailing, but also delve into the profound teachings of yoga, weaving together physical, mental, and spiritual well-being for an incredible transformative week of growth.
Beyond the physical expanse of the sea lay the vast landscapes of self-discovery and adventure. On our last Yoga + Sail + Certify week, we forged bonds with fellow voyagers, explored the stunning Cycladic Islands of Greece, and forged bonds that continue to blossom, even "off the boat." It was truly a voyage of the soul.
At the heart of our journey lies a commitment to empowerment. As the week unfolds, participants are invited to test their newfound skills and receive a license to sail the Seas of the World from the Greek Sailing Federation.
It taught me that true growth lies at the intersection of discomfort and courage, where boundaries blur and possibilities abound. It's a testament to the transformative potential of this journey.
Through this unique opportunity, we aim to harness the balance of well-being practices and the art of sailing, creating a ripple effect of personal growth that will continue to unfold for years to come.
We have 1 room still available for this unique opportunity!
As I reflect upon this transformative experience, I am filled with gratitude – for the challenges that shaped me, the lessons that enlightened me, and the journey that continues to unfold, both on and off the boat.
I am so looking forward to the next journey to learn more and hold space for the next group stepping into this incredible adventure!
